Sherry Mack, a travel advisor in our corporate office, shared an act of kindness she recently participated in with her Mom. Upon reflecting on this campaign, Sherry discussed how powerful and refreshing it is to see the amazing things our colleagues do every day simply because they can. Travel is a fast paced business, and we’re so often pulled in ten different directions to ensure we give our clients the best possible service as trusted advisors. We take our jobs seriously so that we can guarantee the trips our clients dream of, and sometimes in the mix of it all we forget to stop, take a breath, and really see how wonderful it is that we can spend our days with talented, kind, compassionate colleagues. This campaign is as much an act of kindness to ourselves as it is to those we hope to help in our community.
Sherry commented “Last Saturday, my mother (who is 85 with the energy of a 20 year old) and I provided lunch to the families and staff at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC. We deliver a meal (either lunch or dinner) at least twice per year. This past Saturday we fed approximately 30 people. It was heartwarming and humbling to hear from families who are staying with their loved ones in their last days and how much they appreciated a nice meal. The staff at Kitty Askins are the greatest and also conveyed how much they appreciated us being there for them. My heart always goes out to everyone there who is experiencing such a difficult time. I have had love ones who passed away there and know what it’s like being on that end of things. Getting a meal can be difficult because you don’t want to leave a loved one’s side. Providing a meal and a word of comfort seems so small but means so much. “
